ZAMBIA : Metro Magic Are ZBA Champs

METRO Magic beat Hawks 61-58 to be crowned 2013 Zambia Basketball Association (ZBA) south league champions.
Magic's victory over eighth placed Hawks was enough to dethrone second placed UNZA Pacers as champions after extending their lead at the top to five points. Pacers have a game in hand but cannot better Magic's points tally of 34 points going into the last league matches.
LCC Looters are third, but same on points as Pacers on 29, thanks to their 75-56 win over Napsa Hurricanes which was followed by a slender 59-57 win over fourth-placed Green Buffaloes on 27 points.
Hurricanes, who won their second match beating Green Eagles 63-52, are fifth on 25 points while the ZNS club is sixth on 23 points. Other results saw Buffaloes edge Eagles 63-52 as Kabwe Legends were given a 73-59 thumping by Mazabuka Comets, who also beat Eagles 76-73, while Legends lost 80-66 to Hawks.
In the B league, Spartans won promotion to the A league after a 57-47 win over Intrepid Bulls to move to 44 points ahead of promotion chasing Looters who beat Buffaloes 75-68 and Magic 70-60 to remain three points behind but with a game in hand.
Third placed Pacers with 39 points lost their second game to Magic 83-74 as Hurricanes were 61-54 winners over Nkwazi, Chinzam Dragons were thrashed 80-44 with Pacers recording a 90-69 win over Earthrow Bull Dogs.
