KENYA : USIU Take On Hosts KPA in Play-Off Final in Mombasa

UNITED States International University (USIU) travel to Mombasa, where they face off with home girls Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in the play-off finals this weekend. According to the fixtures released by Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) competitions secretary Joseph Amoko, the biggest game in the women's calendar will be played at the Makande Welfare Hall on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
"Because KPA have the home court advantage, we will play Game 1, Game 2 and Game 3 in Mombasa before the porters travel to Nairobi for a possible Game 4 and even 5 on the weekend of December 21-22," said Amoko.
The finals were pushed ahead following the students' engagement in the 19th Africa Club Championships for women that ended in Meknes, Morocco last Friday.
USIU finished fifth in the eight team tournament that was won by Angolan side, Inter Clube. KPA had locked out Sprite Storm 3-0 while USIU came back from a 1-0 deficit against then champions Eagle Wings to claim the best of five series 3-1.
KPA will hope to capitalise on their impeccable home record to stem the USIU tide. The series will very much revolve around shooting sensation Hilda Indasi, who was named the best three point shooter in the Africa championships. She will backed up by national team-mate Emma Nyakweba and Burundian play-maker, Cynthia Irankunda.
