RWANDA : Espoir, APR clash in Basketball playoffs

BASKETBALL LEAGUE PLAYOFFS
Friday
Espoir    vs    APR
Rusizi     vs     KBC
The Playoffs draw pitted two archrivals Espoir and APR, setting a stage for the clash of egos.

It also means one of the two teams won’t be in the finals against either Kigali Basketball Club or Rusizi, who meet in their semi-final.
Rwanda Basketball Federation confirmed that the battle for the 2013 Playoffs title will start on Friday through Sunday with the best of three semi-finals clashes and the finals will be played the following weekend at Amahoro indoor stadium.
The regular season ended on Sunday with champions Espoir extending their unbeaten run to 12 games all season and will go into the Playoffs as firm favourites against APR.
Espoir became the first team to win the regular season league title with an unbeaten record for two consecutive seasons. They finished with 26 points, five ahead of second-placed KBC while Rusizi and APR finished third and fourth with 20 and 17 points respectively.
Former champions APR booked the ticket to play in the basketball Playoffs finals following a comfortable 76-46 win over 30-Plus on Sunday, while the 2011 champions KBC cemented their second place with a 78-46 win against 30-Plus, who finished bottom of the seven-team table without a win.
Espoir won last season’s Playoffs title after whitewashing APR 3-0 in the best of five finals.
