NIGERIA : D'Tigers Off to China for Stankovich Cup

Nigeria's national senoir men's basketball team, D'Tigers have jetted out of the shores of Nigeria to begin in earnest their preparations for the Afrobasket 2013 championship scheduled to hold in Cote d'Ivoire in August. They departed for Lanzhou and Guangzhou, China to open their international preparation for the African championship in the Stankovich Cup tournament which begins from June 27 to July 10. It will be a full house between the local and foreign based players.
The home-based players and coaching staff left Lagos yesterday afternoon on Qatar airlines via Doha while their United States-based colleagues departed the Los Angeles international airport on an Air China flight via Beijing.
They will begin preparation with a game against Germany on Thursday 27th and subsequently square-off against Argentina, Puerto Rico, China and Australia in the round-robin contest. The first leg ends in Lanzhou on July 1 while the second leg will commence in the southern commercial city of Guangzhou from July 3-10. The team will then proceed on recess to reconvene for the next phase of preparation in USA during the third week of July.
