The focus will be on 3x3 basketball, a competition form that is part of the Youth Olympic Games and might be introduced at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Schey will be assisted by NBF Development Officer, Francina Netumbo Amakali and other regional coaches.
It is his third project in Namibia after previous visits in 2010 and 2012. Part of this short-term project are donations to the value of approximately N$30 000, comprising of basketballs, rims, backboards and other equipment. Schey, a 43-year-old teacher and former professional basketball player, returns to Germany next week Friday.
The short-term project is part of the technical cooperation between Germany and Namibia and complements the long-term project already carried out by expert Frank Albin for the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) and the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
