The Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) needs a minimum of Ksh.350,000 for them to be able to send a team that will represent Nairobi at this year's Inter Cities tournament that will be hosted in Kampala, Uganda from the 29th of April.
Speaking to michezoafrika.com, the treasurer of the Nairobi Basketball Association Dan Were appealed to well wishers to come to the rescue of the teams, “we always depend on friends and well wishers to facilitate the trip but this time round we were not so lucky and we desperately need someone to come through for us,”
NBA was planning to send two teams to the tournament but due to lack of funds they opted to send one, which was the ladies team, “the ladies team has won the tournament 10 times and because they will be defending their title, we saw it best that we send the ladies team since we could not afford to send two teams.”
Nairobi ladies team has won the Inter Cities tournament a record 10 times in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 and the only times the team has not won the tournament was when they failed to travel due to lack of funds.
