NIGERIA : Zenith Bank Basketball League - First Bank Maintains Group B Lead

The First Bank Women Basketball Club of Lagos on Monday in Abuja maintained its Group B lead at the ongoing Zenith Bank Women Basketball League after thrashing Dolphins of Lagos 83-63.
The match was both teams' second encounter on day two at the nine-day competition at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Abuja National Stadium.
First Bank had on Sunday walloped Nigeria Immigration Team 84-17 to top Group B at the end of the first day.
In the other Group B matches, Delta Force bounced back from its first defeat by Dolphins 41-55 and walloped Nigeria Immigration 47-29 in its second match.
Plateau Rocks maintained their good grip by defeating new entrant, Oluyole Babes of Oyo 50-42 in another Group B match.
In the last Group B showdown, Benue Queens recovered from the first defeat by Plateau Rocks 49-62, by defeating IGP Queens 41-36.
In Group A, defending champions, First Deep Water of Lagos, climbed to the top after trouncing new entrant, Taraba Hurricanes 94-10.
Sunshine Queens of Akure also shot up to the second in the group after thrashing another new entrants, GT-2000 of Kaduna 64-36.
Nigeria Customs was able to recover from its first loss to First Deep Water 43-62 by defeating AHIP Queens of Kano 39-23.
The league began on March 23 with 16 teams, comprising 10 regular and six new entrants.
The competition is currently in its first phase and will end on March 31, with the second and third phases coming up in Asaba and Lagos respectively later in the year.
