KENYA : Indasi in superb form as Kenya humbles Burundi

Kenya women’s basketball team vice Captain Hilda Indasi was at the fore front as Kenya convincingly defeated Burundi 86-44 in the ongoing African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Dar es Salaam.
The women’s qualifier will be played on a round robin format with the top team qualifying for the African Cup of Nations in DRC later in August. The other teams include: Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Egypt and Burundi.
Indasi, last season’s KBF league MVP, gave Kenya 26 points supported by her captain Silalei Shani with 11 points.
Kenya stamped their authority right from the start of the buzzer thrashing Burundi 26-11 in the first quarter. Burundi however attempted a comeback in the second quarter managing a 2 points advantage over Kenya with an 18-16 triumph. This put the half time scores at 42-29 with Kenya having a comfortable lead.
Kenya showed that they meant business in the 3rd and 4th quarters dominating the scores and sealing the defense line to attain a 21- 08 and 23-07 score line respectively.
Burundi’s Nazerwa Ines could not save her team despite having a game’s high equal to Indasi’s 26 points. Sifa Florence followed with 16 points.
Kenya had beaten hosts Tanzania 74-32 in the first group match played on Monday.
The men’s team lost to Somalia 79-81 in their second group B match on Tuesday.
