Three matches will be played on Saturday evening at the Nyayo National stadium in an evening dubbed Saturday Night Basketball for Eagle Wings. The three league matches will be Equity Bank playing against Strathmore at 5:00PM, Eagle Wings facing Coop bank at 6:30PM and Ulinzi playing Terror at 8:00PM.
Entry fee will be 200 shillings with all collection going towards supporting Eagle Wings’ mission of traveling to Ivory Coast for the FIBA Africa basketball competition in October. The team needs close to 3.5 Million shillings to facilitate their trip with the government already pledging to cater for the team’s air tickets (1.5 Million Shillings).
“We have received good response from fans and we call upon them to come out in large numbers and support us on Saturday. So far the government has assured us that we will travel by pledging to pay for our air tickets. But we are running short of 1.5 Million for accommodation, logistics, meals and players’ allowances while in Ivory Coast.” Team manager Agina Wesonga told michezoafrika.com.
Eagle Wings qualified for the African competition after winning the Zone 5 competition in Kampala last month defeating KPA in the finals. KPA will also travel to Ivory Coast for the competition.
Saturday night basketball has been powered by Code Red in conjunction with Kenya Basketball Federation and fans have been promised a night full of basketball and entertainment courtesy of Code Red and DJ Styles.
