The 2011 KBF champions CO-OP bank over the weekend failed to shine as they were dimmed by University of Nairobi side Terror 63-55 at the Nyayo Gymnasium.

The defending champions’ coach Cary Odhiambo was a disappointed after the loss blaming his team’s loss to complacency especially when facing the so called ‘smaller teams’; “When facing teams that are weaker than us on paper there is an attitude that crops up and the players lose focus. In the 3rd quarter we played nothing. I will have to work a lot on our mental strength to deal with this before our next match.”

Coop Bank commenced the match with a stronger display winning the first quarter 16-08 but they could not hold on to the early lead allowing the students to narrow the gap losing 14-15.
But the students stayed powerful on their offense beating the champions 09-21 in the 3rd quarter and despite a late surge by the Bankers Terrorists took home the day with a 15-19 4th quarter win.
Bill Oketch was the match’s top scorer with 19 points for Terror (made two 3 pointer shots) with Yuval Genga getting 13 points. Hillary Kubai was the highest rebound taker for Terror and also in the match securing 9 rebounds. Co-op banks’ Joseph Khaemba managed 11 points while Titus Musembi and Robert Mugabe made 10 points each.
COOP banks’ ladies team was also on the receiving end going down 35-60 to students USIU.Powered by the ever green Hilda Indasi who netted 20 points, USIU dominated in all quarters to take home the maximum points.
