NIGERIA : Islanders, Comets challenge for points

By EDDIE AKALONU
THE basketball league continues today and tomorrow with Week 6 games where in the Atlantic Conference, Islanders will try to reassert themselves with a sterling performance following last weekend’s 70-58 points loss to Comets. That win invariably reversed their season’s opening game loss to Comets that ended 64-60 points.
Islanders take on a lame Police Baton, a game enthusiasts expect will be an easy ride for them. But top of the bill is another game where Union Bank who were 67- 65 points winners over Customs take on a rejuvenated Comets who are expected to recreate the same form that gave them the game over Islanders last week.
In the same vein, holders, Royal Hoopers of Port Harcourt will host Warriors who are expected keep them on their toes but the cup holders are highly favoured to win. In the other game in the Conference, Chariots face Customs.
And tomorrow in the Savannah Conference, Yelwa Hawks of Bauchi are expected to continue their unbeaten run with a game against KADA Stars in Kaduna. Hawks last week had the better of Tapgun Rockets in Bauchi by winning 67-62 points.
Bauchi Nets who rode over Civil Defenders of Abuja 65- 45 are at home to Immigration in a tie they will not find hard to take. Completing the fixtures are Tapgun Rockets versus Kano Pillars and Defenders against Niger Potters both also tomorrow.
