UGANDA : Can Power stop Warriors?

By Charles Mutebi THE Kyambogo Warriors have not lost to a playoff-bound team in the regular season. Reigning FUBA men’s champions Power have one last chance to change that when they meet Mande Juruni’s Warriors in the regular season finale today at the YMCA courts.
In addition, Power can finish as regular season champions and go into the playoffs as top seed if they defeat the Warriors by 13 points. Kyambogo defeated Power 90-78 in the first round and come into this game leading their arch rivals by a point atop the standings.
The Warriors are, therefore, marginal favourites for this highly-anticipated clash, which is fittingly the last game before the playoffs, but Power believe they can spoil their rivals party.
“We can beat them by more than 13 points,” Power hard-man Boniface Okello vowed.
“Our loss to them in the first round opened up eyes and all we have to do is stay composed and out-rebound them”.
Added Okello: “We have to chock their guards and prevent the ball from going to the big men. Ivan (Enabu) has been their man scorer lately so we have to stop him.”
Kyambogo’s Steven Okias believes his team will “definitely finish in top spot because we are focused and we want to finish first”.
“Ivan has been leading us lately but we have so many scoring options so you don’t know who is going to turn up,” he added.
Meanwhile, UCU will go into the ladies playoffs as top seed if, as expected, they defeat A1 Challenge today.
