SEYCHELLES : Record 72 points for Naiken as Anse Etoile glide past Cadets

The individual scoring record to beat in a single match is now 72 points set by Anse Etoile captain Faizel Naiken on Wednesday during his team’s 95-55 victory over Cadets at Victoria Gymnasium.

He scored more than the average point in all four quarters to lead Anse Etoile to an easy victory, placing them in the runners-up spot on the table. In the first quarter which ended 19-8, he scored 15 points, while in the second he contributed 20 points of his team’s 25. He chipped in another 24 points in the third quarter which Anse Etoile won 31-12, while in the last quarter which ended 20-17, he scored 13 points.
Delighted with his performance – which included some dazzling dunks – Naiken said he remained focused and used his scoring opportunities all throughout the game even if at times Anse Etoile’s game slacked, thus allowing the young Cadets players to apply their basics and enjoy the match.
When asked whether his points tally should be considered a record as it came against the young Cadets team, he simply said: “We are not the first team to play against Cadets. So any other player from another team could have done what I did.”
“That is if they can,” he added.

In two men’s division one league matches played earlier this week, Baya defeated Razors 91-58 and Angels beat RC Dynamics 89-79.
