KENYA : Flying start for Kenyan teams in Zone 5 basketball tournament

The three Kenyan teams taking part in this year’s zone V Basketball championship in Dareesalam got off to a positive start in the championship after registering heavy wins against their opponents.

2010 KBF men champions Coop bank is in pool B alongside Urunani from Burundi, Ethiopia Water Sports, Rwanda’s KBC and ABC from Tanzania. Coop Bank won all their opening matches with a convincing margin crashing Urunani 56-49 on Sunday and Ethiopia Water Sports 83-43 on Monday.
KCB is in Pool A alongside hosts Savio and Vijana from Tanzania and APR of Rwanda. In their opening match played on Monday, KCB registered a 49-34 win over Savio.
2010 KBF ladies champions KPA, are the lone women representative for Kenya after the Zone V defending champions Eagle Wigs pulled out due to financial constraints. In their opening match played on Monday, KPA was in a class of its own when they walloped Government house agencies from Ethiopia 73-32.
KPA will fight for the top honors alongside four other women teams that include: Jeshi Stars of Tanzania, KCC from Uganda, Berco Stars from Burundi and Government House Agencies from Ethiopia.
