KAMPALA

Following a sustained slide this season, Kampala International University (KIU) Titans know that only victory over Charging Rhino in the MTN-Fuba League at YMCA court today will clear their own relegation fears and sink the latter.

Champions DMark Power just toppled KIU 87-73, however, the university team now knows the name of the game is survival at all costs. “We are not worried about relegation because we are not planning to lose again. Today we are going to try our best and lead the game,” said Titan’s coach, Nimrod Kaboha.
The return of Brian Watti to link up with Joshua Etalu and Noel Nyimbo should greatly aid Kaboha’s no retreat no surrender attitude. Rhino remain hopeful of regaining the forfeited points in first round game against Nkumba Marines when Fuba sit tomorrow. “We lost to Marines by forfeiture but we are going to play good basketball to boost our performance in this round,” said Ronnie Mutebi, the Rhino coach.
Rhino defeated Nkumba Marines in the first round but the Fuba technical committee handed Marines two points after the former used two ineligible players, Herbert Akhita and Farouk Omar, formerly of KCC Lions and KIU Titans.
The duo had not yet been cleared by Fuba. Rhino lost their first round opening game to Warriors 46-78. Rhino’s stars Walter Omony and Fahmy Ssebatindira have however vowed to lift up their team and stay clear of the drop.
