NIGERIA : Mohammed Thumbs Up d' Tigers Third Place Finish

Former national basketball team player Abdulrahman Mohammed has lauded the performance of the national team at the just concluded Afrobasket championships held in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

The third place finish, guarantees the team a spot in the London 2012 Olympic Games Men's basketball tournament play-offs.
The ex-D'Tigers player noted that it was sad to see Nigeria lost to a struggling Angolan side in the semi-final but that he felt relieved after seeing Tunisia stop Angola in the final.
According to Mohammed, "the bronze like is better than nothing because the last outing we couldn't get to this level with all the hype of the US-based coaches and players, now we have done well under our local coach.
"With this bronze, we now have the opportunity of qualifying for the Olympic. I am glad Angola didn't win because it is time for their dominancy to end".
