NAMIBIA : New NBF Board Holds 1st Meeting

The Namibia Basketball Federation (NBF) held its first board meeting in Walvis Bay recently to discuss a number of issues related to the revival and growth of the sport in Namibia as well as the endorsement of board members.

The gathering endorsed the appointment of NBF Development Officer Manuel 'Lito' Carbalho and NBF Secretary-General Carlos Manuel while it also discussed the way forward for the two officials A follow-up board meeting is to be held within the next two months.

The NBF thanked the government, through the sports directorate, for its support throughout the past 18 months, notably for assisting the federation getting the basketball governing body and the sport in particular back on its feet.

The government's support came through again during the board meeting when it availed transport to the delegates from the northern and central regions to travel to the coast.
"Basketball is a team sport and as such we believe that, through a strong spirit of partnership between team-mates - namely the regional entities, officials, clubs, leagues, volunteers, sponsors, partners, the media and friends in general - NBF can pave the way towards a strong and sustainable journey in the future," said NBF Secretary General Carlos Manuel.
