GAMBIA : Wallidan, others win in Basketball tournament


Wallidan continues to dominate the basketball in the country as manifested by their outstanding performances, which saw them win a series of basketball tournaments over the period.

Their latest victory came against the determined Serrekunda East basketball team, whom they thumped by 41 points to 26, as part of the second game in the ongoing late Pa Modou Sarr’s basketball tournament, played at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium on Friday.

Coach Ousman Conateh and his men dominated the game from the beginning up till the end. As a result of this, they collected a deserved win to record a perfect start to the competition going into the next encounter with something to be optimistic about.

Just then there was another thrilling basketball game between YMCA and sports house, which ended in favour of Sports House after they emerged the winner by 35 points- 31, at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium earlier on Friday. The game marked the opening match of yet another late Pa Modou Sarr’s memorial basketball tournament.

Other results in the tournament saw Kanifing being awarded points after their opponent Manjai failed to turn up, while Porcupine lost to Serrekunda East by 50-39 points
