KENYA : HomeSports Sports Former champs KPA hit Yana in successful tour

Former women’s national basketball league champions, Kenya Ports Authority, on Sunday harvested maximum four points from their two-match Nairobi tour when they beat Yana 47-36 in a low scoring tie at the Nyayo National Stadium.

In other matches at the same venue, Mennonites gave Predators a rude welcome when they beat the old guards 48-44, while Kenya Polytechnic were awarded a 20-0 walk-over against Africa Nazarane University, who skipped their second league fixture in a row without any reason.

Coach Fred Omondi’s International Christian Centre registered their first, hard-fought win when they defeated the stubborn University of Nairobi’s Terrorists 81-68. After opening their title campaign with a 72-23 win over Kenya Polytechnic on Saturday, KPA women’s team proved that they were out to regain back the league crown with the victory over Yana.

Yana, who fielded five former Eastern Queens players, led by Linda Alando and Mitchelle Otinda, were unable to stop the basket-hungry Vyonne Akinyi, Millicent Anyango and Hellen Oketch from the first whistle.

The trio did their thing as the dockwomen hit hard their experienced but shaky opponents to lead 12-4 in the first quarter.

Attending some sports events is also a good way to enjoy sports travel in kenya or in your nairobi city day tours.
