Newly promoted Ndejje University Angels coach Walker Obedi continued to keep his promise of challenging the status quo in the MTN-Fuba National Basketball by defeating regular play-off campaigners UCU Canons 89-77 at Lugogo Indoor Stadium on Sunday.

Ndejje’s fourth win in seven games so far was set up by a sparkling all-round team performance as four players led by Andrew Ikungura (18 points) reached double figures. “My team is getting used to playing at this level. We have only lost to the big three – DMark Power, Mogas Falcons and Kyambogo Warriors – which will change in the second round,” Obedi told Daily Monitor.

UCU struggled throughout despite Robert Ogweno scoring a game high 19 points and Steven Mwesigye adding 14. There was also victory for champions UCU Lady Canons.
