LOCAL basketball governing body FUBA are confident Steven Omwony will join the men’s team at next month’s Zone Five Africa Basketball Championship qualifiers in Rwanda. Omwony is on a professional stint in the Seychelles.
“Though he is playing in the Seychelles, I’m confident he will want to come because playing at the tournament will give him the chance for more exposure,” said organising secretary Joseph Manano.

Also called is former Nkumba Marines point Guard and shooting forward Norman Blick.
FUBA’s technical committee released a preliminary list of 39 men and 38 ladies from whom 12 players will be selected for either team set to vie for a place in Africa’s elite basketball competition with, at most, nine other teams.

Comments:
The addition of Stephen Omony is a much needed boost to this team with great potential. Omony is arguably one of the best players that Uganda and the entire region(East and Central Africa) has produced and his composure, experience, zeal and leadership is an inspirational for this National team. Fuba should do all it takes to get him
