14th Champions Cup for women : Victoria beat KCC 63-55 and ended 11th


VICTORIA club of DR Congo defeated Kampala City Council (KCC) of Uganda 63 – 55 to claim their only win in the 14th FIBA Africa Champions Cup for women during a classification game for the 11 and 12 position match played at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium.

The victory ensured that the Congolese finished their fixtures in position 11 while the Ugandans, making their debut at the continental scene, ended up last in the 12 team show.

Victoria-club led 16-15 in the first quarter, were up 13-5 in the second. At the end of the third, the winners were up 13-9 before KCC outplayed them 21-14 in the fourth.

Kalanga Tshinyana continued her scoring prowess with 22 points while Nayindu Batekekula scored another 20 for Victoria. For KCC, who became the only team never to have won a game in the championships, Becky Akullo registered 24 while Monica Siima responded with 10.
