ZAMBIA : Hetro Bullets still firing

COPPERBELT basketball league champions Hetro Bullets have maintained top position on the 2008 league standings despite not playing during the week-23 fixtures at the weekend.
Bullets were supposed to face Magnets who did not show up and, instead, the hosts, who have 28 points in the league, played a friendly match against CEC Cavs whom they beat 61-55.

In the other league matches, FQM Nets moved to the second place of the Copperbelt basketball league standings after struggling to beat Lechwe 82-71 in extra time following a 65-65 full-time deadlock.
With the win, FQM move to 26 points while Lechwe slip to the third place with 25 points.
CEC Cavs thrashed Konkola 72-29 to maintain fourth place while the last fixture saw Nchanga whitewash Chambishi 20-0.

Zambia Basketball Association (ZBA) northern region cordinator Rogers Moyo appealed to clubs wishing to postpone any league fixture to inform the association in good time.
He said ZBA would not organise any rescheduled matches for unplayed league fixtures because there was no time left to the close of the season.
“It is disappointing that clubs just inform us on the very day of games that they are unable to compete in the fixtures. My advice is that there will be no rescheduled games as there isn’t enough time left,” Moyo said.
