ANGOLA 2007 : Central Africa no match for Angola

Reigning Africa champion, Angola Tuesday showed the stuff it is made up of when it ran ring round hapless Central Africa Republic in the last quarter-final match of the 24th FIBA Africa Championship at the magnificent Cidadela gymnasium in Luanda.

The match had started with a very high score in the first quarter with Angola winning 36-29 points while the game was slowed down a little in the second quarter with the Angolan still in the lead taking the quarter 17-10, the third quarter was no difference as the Angolan won game through perfect distribution of ball with an 11-06 points victory while the fourth quarter ends 14-06 in favour of the African champion thus providing an easy semi-final pairing for them against Nigeria conqueror Cape Verde on Thursday.

The question on the lips of most people that watched the game against the hapless Central African side is that “who will tame Angola in Africa basketball”

And just as the question was about simmering down another onlooker gave an answer, a country that is ready to support its basketball federation and a federation will be alike to its responsibility that must come with clean hand in handling issues that bothers on the development and improvement of the game in its country and zone.

A federation where corruption and ineptitude will be done away with, one who does not harbour grudges and those not condone sycophancy, that, only will stop the dominance of Angola who has elevate basketball to the status of religion that both small and old adore.
