DESPITE losing reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) Flavia Aketcho to UCU Mukono, women's league defending champions Lady Bucks proved they are still a force to reckon with, by drubbing debutantes Victoria Lakers 64-16 Saturday at YMCA Wandegeya.
Frances Nabulobi began her quest for yet another national basketball league top scorer's accolade with a game high 13 points while Lisa Mary contributed 6 for Bucks.
Rosana Imelda's 6 points and the defensive instincts of Faridah Akuju (2) were the only consolation for hapless Victoria Lakers though coach Sam Bahwayo is unfazed by the dismal show.
"Most of my girls are new in the game but am sure of registering at least four wins in first round," Bahwayo told Daily Monitor. In the men's Division 1, Michael Olweny's game high 18 points could not save giants Charging Rhino from a 44-60 hiding by Miracle, a performance that left many wondering whether the former would survive relegation. Solomon Ssali top scored for Miracle with 15 points.
Crane High's Phillip Wakimwero went top of the scoring charts with 21 points and helped his team defeat Livingstone 63-51 in the men's Division 2. Youngster Emmanuel Ateng and Martin Okello collected 14 points for the Makerere University based side.

Action continues on Wednesday at Lugogo
