ANGOLA : Works for New Pavilion Start in Huambo

The works of construction of a sports pavilion in Angola's Huambo city (centre) have already started.

The pavilion is one of the courts to host the African Championship of Nations of male Basketball, "Afrobasket'-2007", scheduled to take place next August in Angola.
The Chinese company in charge of the construction works, in the initial phase, told Angop Wednesday that the cleaning works at the site where the pavilion will be constructed are underway, with the demolition of infant recreational centre and some nearby sports infrastructures.
The source stated that the construction of the pavilion will start in the first half of March.
The USD 8 million infrastructure, with a capacity to accommodate 2,000 spectators, will count on swimming pools, shops, health and leisure centres, press room and the like.The works are expected complete 15 days ahead of the start of the competition.
Angola, with eight titles has already hosted the competitions twice (1989 and 1999).
Apart from Huambo, other provinces selected to host the games include Benguela, Cabinda and HuĂ­la.
