RWANDA : FIBA sets deadline

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has set January 15 as the registration deadline for countries planning to take part in the 2007 All Africa Games qualifiers.
The Games’ qualifiers are scheduled to run from February 3 at Amahoro Indoor stadium.
Rwanda Basketball Federation (Ferwaba) technical director Innocent Karuhije revealed the development.
“We received an official communication from FIBA informing us that they will send us (Ferwaba) the final list of all those countries that are scheduled to take part in the qualifiers on January 15 of this month.
“This will help us make the necessary hotel reservations for the participating nations,” said Karuhije.
Meanwhile, the national basketball sides; men and women enter residential training today. The men’s side will reside at Hilton hotel while their ladies’ counterparts will camp at Kigali centre Motel.
Cliff Owour, the ladies’ national team coach who returned Sunday from his home country-Kenya, is expected to resume his duties with the national side today.
The men’s side is still without two of its professionals.
Raoul Mballa is was outstanding during the national side’s tour of Nairobi late last year is expected back in the country on January 12 while Edwin Rubasha who features in the England top basketball league is trying to process travel documents. The federation believes that the duo will add flair to the side.
