UGANDA : Marines Gun for Second

AFTER the lucky 71-70 win over Warriors on Sunday, defending champions Nkumba University Marines return to action this evening at the YMCA Courts against 1997 champions Charging Rhino.

Marines are currently fourth on the Yellow Max Conference table but on level points (30) with third-placed Power and second-placed Warriors.
Power and Warriors have a better point-average than Marines. Record winners Falcons still lead the table with 32 points despite losing to Power over the weekend.

Marines need a win today to snatch second place and avoid a clash with table leaders Falcons in the play-offs. Donald Blick, who scored the winning basket against Warriors, could make the Marines' starting five alongside Carrol Bisereko, Barnes Ankunda, Boniface Okello and reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) Norman Blick.

Charging Rhino, which is out of the MTN Basketball League play-offs for the second season running will be playing for pride. National team star Moses Wasswa is back in the country from USA and could play his second game for Rhino.

He will combine with experienced point guard Mande Juruni, Ronnie Kalule, Rogers Sserunyigo and coach player Robert Ndamagye .
