UGANDA : Falcons fall to Kenya’s Ulinzi

IT was yet another good trip to Uganda for the Kenyan sides following a double victory at the 2006 Falcons Invitational tournament that climaxed on Sunday at Lugogo.

Ulinzi Warriors and Sprite Storms won the men and women titles respectively. The Kenyan men league champions eased past tournament organisers Falcons with a 87-59 win. Ulinzi players, showing some good shooting power and class dominated the home side in all quarters.

Even when Falcons stand-in coach Steven Omony introduced youthfuls Brian Ssentongo and Charles Suubi for out marked Henry Malinga and Guy Rutaitsire, the Kenyans remained firm.

Simon Mugambi, Anicette Wafula and Osano used Falcons' defenceless game to pick 15, 14 and 10 points respectively. Malingas Eric and Henry made 17 and 14 points with impressive Louis Habineza notching 10.

In the ladies category, Sprite Storms struggeld to beat surprise package Berco Stars of Burundi 66-49 for the ladies' gold. Defending men and women champions APR (Rwanda) and Lady Bucks (Uganda) did not take part.
