TELECOMMUNICATIONS giants MTN yesterday handed over 435 sets of kit worth sh23m to the local governing body FUBA for the 2006 basketball season.

Twenty nine teams from the Yello Max, Yello Go and women’s leagues stand to benefit from the kit handover ceremony attended by MTN public relations officer Tina Byaruhanga, FUBA secretary Elliot Bagenda and the MTN assistant promotions and sponsorship manager, Olivia Mbabazi.

“This is a deal that is right for the Uganda basketball fraternity and it underlines the depths they have gone to in order to develop the sport of basketball,” Byaruhanga noted assuringly.

Adding, “we believe the federation’s operations compliment our fan base that will help MTN’s businesses grow around the world.”

“Teams that have cleared their league fees can pick up their kits from the FUBA offices at YMCA, Wandegeya, but we shall retain those for teams that have not paid up yet,” FUBA organising secretary Edmund Lumu said.
