NIGERIA : AHIP Giants Take Losers’ Banner to Bauchi

As the Vmobile League runs through the last lap of the regular season the AHIP Giants of Kano are still searching for their first win of the season. Whereas most of the teams are battling to secure tickets to the play off stage, the AHIP boys are battling for their first maximum points.
This afternoon they travel to Bauchi to face the Nets with the sole ambition of picking a win. They play the match coming out of the last weekend of which they played at home. The Giants were beaten 69-66 by Niger Potters of Minna at the Kano Stadium. The win has pushed the Potters well into the play offs season even with two games at hand.
The match playing today in Bauchi has been voted in favour of the Nets by bookmakers as the host team have enjoyed a good run in this regular season. Bauchi Nets were yet to drop a game until they visited Minna a fortnight ago and lost to the Potters.
“So far it has been good for us looking ahead at the play off stage. We do hope to play well into the play off given the volume of work we have carried out so far and I don’t see how we can be stopped now,” Adeka Daudu, the Nets coach told THISDAY.
Given the background of the teams, their players on parade and their current form, it will take more than a miracle for the visitors to achieve a win in Bauchi. On the other hand, the game may as well tie up a ticket for the Nets who missed out of the race to the Abuja play off last year on the last day.
Four teams will qualify for the first leg of the play off from each of the Conferences as against the three when the Vmobile Challenge held last year.
