KENYA: Four local clubs swing into action at Nyayo

The Zone Five East Central and Southern Africa Club championships start at the Nyayo Stadium basketball gymnasium with four Kenyan clubs in action.

Storms get the tournament underway at 10 am with a match against Berco Stars of Burundi in one of the three women's contests today. They will be followed on the court two hours later by Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) women who will be up against A1 Challenge of Uganda. The last women's match of the day will be between Cargo of Tanzania and University of Rwanda.

Ulinzi and Rwanda Patriotic Army (APR) meet in the first men's encounter at 4 pm followed by Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) against Runani from Burundi.

Storms captain Angela Luchivya said they have prepared well and are looking forward to a good tournament.

"We have played the teams from Rwanda and Burundi before and I believe that experience will be helpful. We have also started the league well winning our opening two matches against Dynamites and the USIU and we feel we have the momentum to start well today," she said.

Storms were in Rwanda in February to participate in the Heroes Cup tournament organised by APR. They won the title.

Former Storms and Ulinzi coach, Cliff Owuor is now at APR. He said has been there for the past year.
