UGANDA: A-1 Challenge set eyes on regional title

THE MTN Basketball women champions A-I Challenge, have vowed to challenge for honours in the fourth coming East African Basketball Club Championships due in Nairobi-Kenya in April.

Club coordinator and senior player Rosette Meya (pictured) made the promising remarks at Lugogo Guest House on January 14 during the club's party to celebrate the 2005 MTN league title.

"I want to assure A-I Challenge fans and all Ugandans that we shall come back with the women's trophy from Nairobi," said Meya.

A-I beat women record champions Lady Bucks with a memorable 3-1 best of five final series to win their first league title since their inauguration in 1999. Meya added that they are are also out to dominate the League for many more years.

The women champions together with their male counterparts Nkumba University Marines will represent Uganda in the regional club championship in Nairobi.

However, Meya said that the club is still soliciting for close to Shs20m for the whole season including the event. " The only problem now is money to take us through the season,” added Meya.
